Holiday of Fathers (feat. Thor Bager, Svartsot)

Bring forth your wine
Bring forth your drinks
A big fire will light up the night
. . . light up the night!

The songs are singing and the beеr drinking
We are feasting — we are pleasing the Gods
Night is like days 'cause fires light it
Joy is at the faces and let fear become ashes

Night is like day and here is our happiness
Holiday of fathers and here is our gladness
Tomorrow we will be at work again
Now we're singing the songs, praising the Gods

Gorgeous sunshine brings us joy
Bright sickle Moon is now with us
Holiday of fathers is now with us
Holiday of fathers is the holiday of ours

We are gathered around the fire
To recollect our fathers
We are gathered here together
To recollect ourselves

The time of battles for now passed
Let's chase away time of grief
Our children are here with us
Our ancestors are here with us

Gorgeous sunshine brings us joy
Bright sickle Moon is now with us
Holiday of fathers is now with us
Holiday of fathers is the holiday of ours

This song is about celebration in its transcendental meaning. The state of a holiday can be seen as the flip side of daily life and its indispensable addition to the human experience. This state, which for many is both desired and long-awaited, has certain boundaries.

In the usual sense of the word, a holiday signifies merriment, a time when people can relax and escape from their daily routine, and treat themselves to tasty food and entertainment. But on a higher level, a holiday is like a mystery, an opportunity to reach a state of bliss and happiness, one that is accessible to heroes deserving eternal revelry in the world of the afterlife.

The Feast of the Fathers thus takes place in two worlds; and when the bonfires burn, the wine flows into goblets, and the elders rejoice, all the while looking at their grown children, the echo of an infinite celebration can be heard, one which man has always aimed for, all the while pondering the eternity of the beyond.
